Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion, has claimed the 2010 Rip Curl Women’s Pro presented by Ford Fiesta over opponent Sofia Mulanovich (PER), 26, in a hard-fought Final.

Event No. 2 on the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro came to a dramatic close today, with the unstoppable, young Australian collecting her third Bells Title in four attempts.

“I’m a bit overwhelmed by this,” Gilmore said. “To ring the bell once is an amazing feeling, but three times? I don’t think the gravity of it has sunk in yet. It’s an incredible event and I feel very fortunate to have achieved such success here so far.”

The world’s best female surfers are gearing up for the second stop on the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford Fiesta, running at the historic site of Bells Beach from March 30 through April 5, 2010.

Hot on the heels of a blistering start to the season, the ASP Top 17 are making their way to the iconic pointbreaks of Victoria as they hunt down rankings’ points, prestige and the all-important ASP Women’s World Title.

Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion and current ASP Women’s World No. 1, kicked off 2010 in fine fashion with a win at the season opener on the Gold Coast, but remains cautious when discussing the possibility of a fourth ASP Women’s World Title so early in the year.

Aussies Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore may be the toast of the surfing world having wrapped up the men’s and women’s World Titles in Hawaii, but now the focus shifts to Australia’s fledgling junior stars to see if they can make history by claiming the world’s premier junior surfing event – the 2009 Billabong ASP World Junior Championships fuelled by Monster Energy – due to take place at Sydney’s North Narrabeen beach over eight days ning January 9th.

The winners will be crowned alongside Fanning and Gilmore at the ASP World Champions banquet in February, meaning Australia would hold four world titles concurrently, a first for the sport.

But the local contingent will have their work cut out for them if they are to reverse the trend that has seen Australia’s international reputation for dominance wane since Joel Parkinson last claimed the men’s title for the green ’n gold in 2001.

Think you have what it takes to be the next Stephanie Gilmore?? Well, come along to the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina from January 18-22 to surf and hang out with undoubtedly the best woman surfer in the world.

The Surfing Australia HPC is excited to announce the weeklong camp that will be open to 16 lucky 8-17 year old girls. The application process is first in best dressed, and will give aspiring surfers a fantastic opportunity to train with the coaches that helped shape Gilmore’s professional career.

The 3 x World Champion commented on the HPC saying, “The Surfing Australia HPC has all the right facilities and ingredients to help fuel Australia’s future sport stars. The team down there really provide the best information to achieve top results and have helped myself and many of my peers become not just surfers but professional athletes”
