<p>History was created today as the first ever NSW Standup Paddleboard champions were crowned at the picturesque One Mile Beach.</p>
<p>Greeted with clear skies, light offshore winds and beautiful, clean lines, the best Paddlers in the state put on a memorable show, heralding just how far the fledging sport has come.</p>
<p>With approximately 50 competitors competing for prestigious state titles and the opportunity to compete at the Australian Stand Up Paddleboard Titles, held as part of the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival at Port Macquarie in August, spectators, competitors and event organisers were on tenterhooks before the opening siren.</p>

<p>With clear skies, idyllic surf and the world's greatest surfers on hand, Round 1 of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay saw the 2010 ASP World Title Race reignited with the top seeds putting in sensational performances.</p>
<p>Mick Fanning (AUS), 29, reigning ASP World Champion and two-time past winner of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay (2002, 2006), kick-started his 2010 campaign in fine form today, lacerating the pristine walls of Jeffreys Bay with the highest heat total of the event, a 16.70 out of a possible 20, to advance through to Round 3.</p>

<p>Gony Zubizarreta (ESP) 25, today claimed this year’s Cordoama Buondi Pro title an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Men’s Star- Series 1-Star event over coming former ASP 2009 Dream Tour member Marlon Lipke (DEU) in the long awaited 35-minute show down between the events two top seeded surfers.</p>
<p>A slight drop in the swell did little to halt the explosive surfing witnessed today at Praia da Cordoama. Waves in the 3ft (1m) range improved as the tide pushed in forming peaks on the inside shore break offering the perfect scene for the huge crowd to watch the action unfold.</p>

The future of surfing is secure in the hands of promising young surfers like Jake Marshall, Boys U12 Champ, Ian Gentil, Boys U14 Champ, Mahina Maeda, Girls U12 Champ, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Girls U14 and U146 Champ, who all put on stellar performances today.</p>
<p>Champions were crowned today in a total of nine shortboard divisions. The Boys U16 and U18 as well as the Girls U18 heats had been particularly competitive all week long with former and reigning Champions looking to reclaim the glory among fresh talent striving to stake a claim of their own.</p>

<p>The 18th annual All Girls Surf Showdown enjoyed great waves at Lennox Head today .</p>
<p>This is the biggest All Girl event in Australia and the finals day standard highlighted the strength of girls surfing in Australia .</p>
<p>The blue ribbon Southern Cross Credit Union Open Pro division saw a high quality field attack the final and the result went right down to the final two minutes when Sunshine Coast Queensland surfer Dimity Stoyle found the days highest scoring ride posting an outstanding 9.0 score to take a narrow victory over Cabarita’s Airini Mason (NSW).</p>

<p>The inaugural Tradies Ocean and Earth Surfmasters saw the grandmasters of surf mixing it up at North Cronulla today.</p>
<p>Seeing the usual crew of weather beaten, salt encrusted, sand blasted, elder statesmen and women competing for ten prestigious titles, the event saw yesterday’s champions taking on solid conditions.</p>
<p>Recognising their love and passion for surfing in a format usually celebrated by the younger generation, the event witnessed over 45, 50, 55 and 60 years Men and Women’s divisions.</p>
